Crossing borders

For those of you that would like to see the north part of Nicosia, there is a crossing point in LedraStreet, in the center of Nicosia. You would just need to have an identification with you (ID card from your country or passport).
In the north part you will be able to pay with euros too in most of the shops.
Must see places: Agia Sophia cathedral - mosque (you can find nice restaurants and cafes behind-around it, Bedestan, Old Market, Buyuk Han (nice restaurant on the corner of the lower floor). All these are close to the crossing point.

Kapnos: from and to the Airport

For those of you that will use the Bus Shuttle from the airport (Larnaka or Paphos) to Nicosia, you will have to take the Kapnos Airport Shuttle bus service.

At Larnaka airport, you will find the desk when you leave the baggage claim hall after collecting you luggage (note: will you need a cart, you need a 2 euro coin, so you can keep one for that moment. Anyway, there are change machines there too), getting out of the doors go to your left and you'll find their desk. You can buy a one way ticket there (8 euros) and wait outside next door for the bus. There is just one bus stop in Nicosia, so no worries about where to get down. (Anyway, the stop is called Melkonian,35.148541, 33.375261, just in case)

The road takes about 45 minutes and they have wifi in the bus so you can text us via whatsapp when you are getting close so we can pick you up and take you to the place that you are going to stay.

I don't know the service from the Paphos airport, but must be similar procedure, just higher price.

Information

- ATM machines work normally, like any european place. One good thing in Cyprus is that you can pay (almost) at any shop with visa card, from kiosks (peripteros) to supermarkets. Is recommended to do it, so you don´t have to take money out from machines since they will probably charge you some commission (anyway, as you know, always better check the conditions with your bank provider). Just bring with you the money you think necessary.

- Electric plugs are like this:

Anyway, there is a relative easy way to switch on normal plugs in this sockets (laptop, phone charger,... but not the big ones, you'll need and special adapter then) with a simple adapter or just a pen.

- Tap water is drinkable. We at our house just have a filter, but directly from the tap is fine too (we have been told in restaurants that you can´t drink water from the tap in Nicosia, so you have to buy from them the bottle of water... *X( angry...)
